BPSC Prelims Strategy 2026: A Practical Plan to Clear in First Attempt
Table of Contents
The BPSC Prelims is a screening test, so your goal is simple: score safely above the cut-off, not become a topper. A calm, structured plan beats long study hours every time.
1. Start with the syllabus and PYQs
Print the official syllabus and tick every topic you finish. Then solve the last 5 to 7 years of previous year papers to see which subjects the commission actually asks from. History, Bihar-specific topics, Polity, Geography and Current Affairs usually carry the most weight.
2. Build a three-layer routine
- Learn: one subject at a time from standard sources such as NCERT and one good reference book.
- Revise: revisit every topic at least three times, using short notes you made yourself.
- Test: take a mock test every week and analyse each wrong answer.
3. Do not ignore Bihar
Bihar history, geography, economy, culture and government schemes are a scoring edge because many candidates from other states skip them. Make a separate notebook for Bihar facts.
4. The last 30 days
Stop starting new books. Revise your notes, solve full-length mocks in exam timing, and practise elimination to handle negative marking. Sleep well in the final week.
Read the latest official notification on the BPSC website before you plan, because pattern and dates can change.
