About BPSC Mains

BPSC Mains is the descriptive stage that follows Prelims. It tests how well you understand a topic, organise your thoughts and express them clearly in limited time. Unlike Prelims, scores here count towards final merit, so a structured writing practice is essential.

What examiners look for

  • Accuracy – correct facts, dates and examples.
  • Structure – short introduction, body with headings and a balanced conclusion.
  • Bihar connection – relevant local examples and data wherever possible.
  • Clarity – simple language, no unnecessary words.

Answer writing practice

  1. Write at least one answer a day, then two or three as the exam gets closer.
  2. Time every answer; practise finishing within the word and time limits.
  3. Compare your answer with a good source and add missing points.
  4. Keep a diary of diagrams, flowcharts and one-line quotes you can reuse.

Subject strategy

Strengthen the General Studies base from our notes, then convert every topic into 150–250 word answers. Language papers need regular writing and grammar practice – see Hindi notes.
